These elegant and feminine earrings are an example of Kate McCoy's custom design work.
The stunning Emeralds are family Emeralds that were given to Kate to design a pair of earrings for a client's daughter for her 30th birthday.
The most important part of creating this design was to allow the Emeralds to speak for themselves. Because they are for special occasions and earrings, Kate chose to make the settings a claw setting rather than the often advised bezel or half bezel setting style commonly seen in emerald stone designs to protect the emeralds from any knocks. The bezel design is most commonly seen with Emerald rings due to the hands being an inevitably high traffic zone!
Kate chose to set the earrings with white gold because she feels it makes them bright and youthful compared to a yellow gold setting. Emeralds are traditionally set with yellow gold, but having said that, there are no rules!
Furthermore setting diamonds in white gold allows the diamonds to twinkle brilliantly and create the right balance and space between the feature Emeralds. When white gold is finished to a high polish, distinguishing where the diamond ends and the setting begins is difficult at a glance, giving the diamonds more reflection and pop!
These earrings are balanced and carefully hand crafted to swing neatly with the natural movement of the head when worn.
Elegant with a touch of head turning glamour, the design is refined and feminine and perfectly suits the beautiful person they were designed for.
