Engagement Ring Budgets

Engagement Ring Budgets

This section is to help you begin to understand how much rings cost and ascertain what is important to you - size, colour, clarity, cut. The 4 Cs. But first - it’s important to have a budget as a starting point. A ballpark figure that you are comfortable spending.

We can talk through all the options with you in detail, but it's also important to show you things you can afford. We can source you anything in the world so the options are truly limitless. Budgets however seldom are!

Here is a guide

The majority of the overall cost of a ring is in the main center stone, whether that is a Diamond or a Sapphire or Ruby or other coloured stone. You should budget a minimum of $5500 for a center stone and a little bit extra if you want shoulder accent stones.

Most Engagement rings start at AUD $7,000 plus GST. We can make rings for less, but as far as Diamond engagement rings are concerned this is the general starting price point.

The making cost of a ring is between $1,500 and $2,500 plus GST including the metal. The price depends on the complexity of the design and the total gram weight and type of metal.

The gram weight of the ring is dependent on the ring size, the ring width, and the ring height.

We recommend that Engagement rings are made from 18 karat white, rose, or yellow gold or made from Platinum.

For example:

A 1.0-carat diamond will cost anywhere between $9,000 and $12,000 plus the making of the ring plus GST. (Budget for $12,000 - $15,000 including GST)

A 1.3-carat diamond will cost between $13,000 and $18,000 plus the making of the ring plus GST. (Budget for between $16,500 and $22,000 including GST)

A 1.5-carat Diamond will cost between $18,000 and $28,000 plus the making of the ring plus GST. (Budget between $22,000 and $33,000 including GST)

A 2.0-carat Diamond will cost between $28,000 and $45,000 plus the making of the ring plus GST. (Budget between $33,000 and $52,000 including GST)

You will notice that the bigger the diamond, the more exponential the price point.
